I am Nancy Kramer, a mediator and arbitrator for disputes of all sorts. Much of my practice involves workplace, family (straight and gay), co-op and condo, medical malpractice and commercial disputes. Before becoming a mediator over 10 years ago, I practiced law, with not-for-profit organizations and with the New York Attorney Generals Office. I now handle only mediation, arbitrations and other dispute resolution work. WHY I BECAME A MEDIATOR As a lawyer I was always interested in dispute resolution
and quickly realized how costly and draining, both financially and emotionally,
litigation can be. My interest in simpler, easier ways of resolving disputes,
especially between individuals, led me to mediation. WHAT I DO NOW I handle private cases and am an active panel mediator for the United States Postal Service REDRESS Program (workplace disputes); the New Jersey Superior Court system (commercial, contract, employment, insurance, etc.); the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (workplace disputes) and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, among others. And I am a Special Master handling appellate mediations for the New York Appellate Division, First Department. In addition to mediating, I arbitrate for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the New York Stock Exchange. I also teach about mediation and train mediators. Recently I have developed and/or taught in programs given by the American Bar Association; Brooklyn Bar Association; American Society For Training and Development (ASTD); NASD/Eastern District Bankruptcy Court; New York City Corporation Counsel; New York State Attorney Generals Office; New York University School of Law, New York County Supreme Court , Commercial Division and Touro Law School.
